This week I was cursed with appendicitis but blessed with the love of my family and friends. I have received the best little care packages and goody bags from my sister and friends recently. This is something I never expected but sure made me feel loved. Kind of makes a person want to get major surgery more often!
To top that off, my MIL and SIL have been here all week doing my laundry, dishes and cooking as well as looking after the boys. Tomorrow I am on my own because I have recovered WAY too fast. I got home from the hospital Monday night and it was like I never had surgery, other than some intense abdominal soreness. I have been up and around doing my normal things every day, just doing them more gingerly. I can still feel my incisions and still have some soreness but not nearly as much. I should probably be taking it a lot easier but come on, that is almost impossible to do.
I wish I could have spent the week laid up in bed, ringing a bell when ever I needed service. But the guilt would have been too much to handle. I had my follow-up appt today and everything looks good so things are basically back to normal. Dammit.
Now, I guess it’s just on to the rest of the year and anything else that gets thrown at me. Even with a large wrench like surgery popping into my life, I’m not going to get down about the rest of the year. I’m trying to retain that optimistic outlook I had on January 1st.
In other news, I have clean clothes. My son has clean underwear. He even has socks. WHO KNEW! Gotta love those helpful mother-in-laws.
